Solid copper wires and cables have some unique benefits and features. Solid copper is known in the electrical industry for its relatively low cost, durability, and simple design. In addition, solid copper is often more weather resistant than stranded variations. Solid wires and cables can also carry more current than similar stranded versions. These wires and cables fit well in overhead and distribution electrical systems, as well as in some building, vehicle, and outdoor applications. Solid copper assemblies are perfect for straight connections with few twists. Our custom solid copper wires and cables also have a wide range of gauge sizes. We offer solid copper from .006305 inches to .3125 inches in diameter. We have soft copper wires and cables, and also medium and hard cables available upon request.
Stranded copper wires and cables are better suited for certain environments and applications than solid copper wire. Stranded copper is far more flexible and less likely to kink than solid copper. It is much easier to twist and bend around obstacles. Stranded copper is often used in circuit boards, speakers, and electrical assemblies that require wires to bend.
